             About the Director, Miss Ashley Shimberg:
    
       
          
 
Miss Ashley has been dancing since she was old enough to walk. Her 20 years of dance experience include 10 years of training in Tap, Jazz, Ballet, Hip-Hop and Irish Step Dance as well as being a member of multi-award winning Dance Companies, Performing Companies, and Dance Troupes during much of that time. Ashley has 12 years of high-intensity training in all forms of Clogging including Southern Appalachian, Flatfoot, Precision, Contemporary, and Modern Clogging. Ashley has trained extensively with a variety of Clogging instructors and teams from all over the world. Ashley has been one of the top placing female Clogging soloists in the country and she won 11 grand champion titles in the years 2002-2004. Ashley has displayed her Clogging talents in many places throughout the United States and abroad including: Biltmore Estate, Grove Park Inn, Dollywood, Tweetsie Railroad, Bele Chere, Governor's Mansion, Disney World, Carnival Cruise Lines, and the Grand Ole Opry and many more.

A few of Ashley's career highlights:


  • Over 300 awards in solo, duet, and team competition categories
  • Member of National Champion TNC Elite Cloggers for 5 years
  • Named to the "2000" All American Clogging Team at age 14, which is chosen by America's Clogging Hall of Fame
  • 1st runner up Teen Miss American Clogger 2001
  • 1st place soloist in America's Clogging Hall of Fame National Dance Offs 2001-2003
  • Member of "Preferred Clogging Judges" List
  • Member of the North Carolina Clogging Association
  • Member of The National Clogging Organization, Inc.
  • In 2003, Ashley was chosen to represent clogging for the first time ever in the 2003 AAU Junior Olympic Games in Detroit, Michigan. Ashley was the only clogger chosen from North Carolina to compete in acapella solos and she came home with the bronze medal!
  • Most recently, Ashley taught clogging to orphans in Bolivia while on a mission trip in March 2008. Ashley's fluency in Spanish made it possible for her to teach her passion to the children. The clogging lessons were  such a hit that Ashley was then invited to teach clogging at a second orphanage, and then was invited to perform at a banquet where the Mayor gave her an award from the city of Montero, Bolivia for civic excellence. 

Currently, Ashley continues to successfully juggle the roles of Owner, Director, Instructor, and Choreographer for Asheville Clogging & Dance Company. Ashley also performs solo shows regularly at banquets, conferences, conventions and other events as well as teaching Master Classes and instructing at various Clogging and Dance workshops throughout the Southeast.
