Class Descriptions:
Preschool Class- The preschool class is a 30-minute weekly class for children ages 3 1/2 to 4 1/2. In this class children will learn how to listen for the beat in a song, how to count music, basic clogging steps, basic hand movements, and a short clogging dance to be performed at spring clogging performances. Please note: The preschool class is the ONLY class that will wear tap shoes instead of clogging shoes.
Beginner 1- The beginner 1 class is a 50-minute weekly class for children ages 5 and up who have little or no previous clogging experience. In this class children will learn how to listen for the beat in a song, how to count music, numerous clogging steps, jazz movements, and at least 2 clogging routines to perform at clogging performances throughout the year. The Beginner 1 class will also be ready to perform in the Asheville Holiday Parade in November!
Intermediate I- The intermediate I class is a 1-hour weekly class for children ages 5 and up who have previous clogging experience. In this class children will learn dozens of new clogging steps, jazz movements, and at least 2 clogging routines to perform at all performances throughout the year. In the Intermediate I class children will learn various types of clogging routines including line formations, hoedowns, and partner routines.
Intermediate II- The intermediate II class is a 1-hour weekly class for for Asheville Clogging Company members who have previous clogging experience. The intermediate II class will learn dozens of new clogging steps, jazz movements, and at least 3 routines to perform at all performances throughout the year, as well as at one or two competitions a year. The advanced class will continue to learn various types of clogging routines and more complex footwork.
Adult Class- The adult class is a 50-minute weekly class for ages 16 and up. The adult class will learn a variety of clogging steps and will learn at least 2 clogging routines to perform at all performances throughout the year. The adult class focuses mostly on clogging footwork and getting a good aerobic work out!
Competition Team- The competition team practices twice a week, Mondays and Thursdays, each practice is 1 hour. The competition team is mostly older, experienced cloggers, typically age 11 & up, although eligibility for competition team is based on skill, not age. The competition team will perform at all Asheville Clogging Company performances and will also compete at two competitions in the fall and two competitions in the spring. All competitions will be within 1.5 hours of Asheville and competition team will compete in 3 or 4 categories at each competition. There are also opportunities to compete in solo and duo/duet categories. The competition team will do a variety of clogging routines and styles including standing line, show, line formations, exhibition, hoedown, traditional line and 4-couple precision.
Jazz/Hip Hop Combo Class- The jazz/hip hop combo class is a 50-minute weekly class for age 9 & up. The class will focus on increasing flexibility and balance by stretching and working on dance movements such as splits, kicks, leaps and turns. The class will also focus on learning jazz and hip hop movements and learning to count music and dance to the beat of a song. The jazz/hip hop class may be joining the Asheville Clogging Company at some of their spring performances!
Tuition and Discounts:
30 minute clogging class= $30 per month
50 minute clogging class= $38 per month
1 hour clogging class= $42 per month
Competition team (2 hrs) = $75 per month
Jazz/ Hip Hop combo class (50 min) = $25 per month Asheville Clogging Company members! $30 per month if enrolled in gymnastics at Hahn's Gymnastics and $38 everyone else (regular family discounts apply for siblings of cloggers for jazz/hip hop class!)
